Since 1960, all vehicles over three years in age must undergo an annual test which determines how safe and roadworthy they are. Nork Motor Engineering provides fast, flexible and affordable MOT testing solutions from premises in Banstead, Surrey.
Below, we have provided a list of everything our qualified engineers check during the MOT testing procedure:
If a vehicle was first used on or after the 1st of August 1980, it should not have more than one vehicle identification number present on it. The same number is permitted to be displayed in multiple places.
The letters and numbers should be properly formatted and the plate itself should be in good condition, fully legible and securely attached to the car.
Must be in good condition and operate properly.
Should not obscure the driver’s view of the road.
A vehicle should not have sharp edges and the chassis should not be badly corroded or damaged.
All lights should be the correct colour, in good condition, operate properly and be securely attached to the vehicle. Headlamp aim will also be checked.
All compulsory seatbelts must be in place, in good condition, of the correct type, properly operational and securely anchored.
Seats – The driver and front passenger seats should be secure while all backseats must be securable in an upright position.
The fuel cap must fasten and seal correctly and not allow leaks. Please ensure that if your fuel cap has a key, you bring it with you so we can open it up.
A vehicle cannot violate legal limits on exhaust emissions. The limit takes into account the car’s age and the fuel type it uses.
Must be secure and complete, silence effectively and not have major leakage.
Must work and be of a legal type.
The driver and front passenger seats should be secure while all backseats must be securable in an upright position.
Must open and close properly and latch while in the closed position. Front doors must be openable from both outside and inside the vehicle. Rear doors will need to be opened to allow our engineers access to testable elements.
Securely fastened to the vehicle and in usable condition.
Tread depth, tyre size and type must be legal. General condition and how securely they are attached to the vehicle will also be inspected.
Must perform properly when put through an efficiency test, which will evaluate their condition. Wheels will stay on while they are tested.
